Diana Burkot is a Russia-born, Reykjavík-based interdisciplinary intersectional artist, musician, and activist working across contemporary art, experimental music, video art, installation, and performance.
Her practice explores themes of political power/powerlessness and subjectivity, feminism, bodily experience, migration, collective trauma, and resistance through raw physicality and multimedia forms.

Performance “Source 3” emerges from a deeply personal experience of migration, and adaptation within Icelandic society.
The work exists within the tension between legal belonging and emotional integration. Although Diana Burkot received Icelandic citizenship in 2026 and has been living in Iceland for three years, is she Icelandic? Of course not.
Contemporary Iceland itself — where nearly every fifth resident has an immigrant background — exists as a living, complex, and constantly transforming social landscape.
I sing
I use my voice
My voice in red.
I pronounce
I use my tongue
My words are crooked.
I exist
I use my body
My body no longer knows how to be.
I think
I know
knowledge has rotted.
Ó, Guð þeirra lands
